Eurecna signed a EuropeAID funded contract for implementing ISO/IEC 17025, ISO/IEC 17020, ISO/IEC 17021 and ISO/IEC 17065 rules/procedures within the public and private Institutions of the Dominican Republic.
The project aims at increasing the productive quality of MSMEs, in order to improve their competitiveness in both internal and external markets, and thus contribute to a more inclusive and sustainable growth of the Dominican economy. The beneficiaries are working in the fruit processing, beauty products and personal hygiene markets, as well as the Avocado production, in fact one of the lab involved in the project is located in the Avocado Cluster, the purpose of accreditation for the certification of the Semil-34 variety, which has the “Oro Verde Cambita” seal of protected designation of origin.
On 7th November 2019 the first project coordination meeting took place in the premises of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and SMEs with the presence of the complete team - composed by Hugo Guerrero (Team Leader), Francisco Monje and Sandra Pinto (KEs), Orjina Yimenez (Office manager) and Serena Francovig (Eurecna Project Manager).
The TA team is already working on the field and evaluating labs located across the country and cooperating with five ministries.
