An important workshop took place on 12th November 2018 in the framework of the project "Support to implementation of strategies to foster Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) development in Egypt" that Eurecna is managing.
The poject falls within the revision of the Sustainable Development Strategy (SDS) 2030 adopted in 2015, and that sees MSMEs and entrepreneurs directly contributing to national sustainable and inclusive growth objectives. This reflects the surging importance that MSMEs have in the Egyptian context, considering that they have increased by 60% to reach 3.2 million in the past 10 years, and are seen as key contributors to innovation and creating jobs for the youth.
These positive changes have been incorporated in the SDS 2030, where a specific MSME pillar aiming at reforming and boosting the private sector was developed. The objective of the workshop was therefore to engage participants in a dialogue to identify national initiatives supporting MSMEs and contribute to the objectives of the Vision 2030.
Participants will submit their contributions to the Ministry of Planning and Administrative Reform (MOPAR) and the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA), and another facilitated dialogue will be organised to discuss opportunities and issues linked to the implementation of the respective contributions.
These promising activities show the importance of having a strong MSMEs environment and participation in national dynamics.
