On September 19th, 2018, in the framework of the EU-funded project “Support to the Civil Code – phase 2”, Eurecna coordinated the organisation of a seminar at the University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina”, as part of the information campaign on “The impact of a modern Civil Code on the legal order in Kosovo”.
As the project supports the Ministry of Justice to finalize a modern Civil Code for Kosovo, the seminar saw legal professionals and students engage on the possible impact of such new text in the legal order of Kosovo.
Topics addressed include how changes in civil law-related matters can influence court judgments and the overall interpretation of existing legal texts, and how academic research may help better understand the potential impact on society. Another key topic addressed focused on how cross-border civil matters require the establishment a legal order in Kosovo that can easily absorb EU-related legal requirements.
The outcome of the seminar will be used as a part of the overall outreach strategy to inform and better understand the changes that a modern Civil Code in Kosovo will bring.
