From 6 to 11 February 2017, in the framework of the EU funded project TA for Development of a Winter Tourism Corridor in Erzurum, Erzincan and Kars, Eurecna welcomed fourteen representatives of the Turkish Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Municipality of Erzurum, Erzincan and Kars as well Governorates of the three cities.
Eurecna Project Manager, Ms Serena Francovig, accompanied the group to visit several major winter destinations in the Dolomites: Madesimo, Saint Moritz, Ortisei, Selva di Val Gardena and Cortina d’Ampezzo.
The aim of the study tour is to explore a skiing region in Italy which is famous for its beautiful slopes and analyse the best practice in terms of efficient management of winter tourism services, organization of the branding and marketing and the sustainability of tourism on the mountain area.
The participants had the opportunity to meet Dolomiti Superski and the other local representatives of the visited regions. They tested skiing facilities such as lifts, slopes and services provided by hotels during ski high season. The Team Leader of the project, Mr. Francesco Comotti, and the short term expert, Ms Cinzia Confortola chaired useful briefings with the participants, who were supported in the collection of relevant best practices that can be transferred to the fast growing skiing industry in Erzurum, Erzincan and Kars.
