Eurecna is supporting the Union for the Mediterranean in facilitating the implementation of the UfM core activities on women empowerment, including through regional dialogue process and by promoting regional projects.
Within this framework, Eurecna contributed to the organisation of the UfM Women4Mediterranean Conference 2018, focusing on the theme "Women build inclusive societies", which will take place in Lisbon, Portugal, on 10-11 October 2018.
The 2018 edition of Women4Mediterranean comes at a time when the 43 UfM countries adopted a strong Declaration with an ambitious action plan where UfM Ministers committed to take the necessary and relevant measures and create policies to promote the equality between women and men, in rights and opportunities, in all spheres of society: political, economic and civil life.
The Conference, which includes activities such as seminars and workshops, will be attended by prominent women and men of the Mediterranean region who are involved in gender issues, such as H.E. Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, President of the Republic of Malta; H. E. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, President of the Portuguese Republic; H.E. Neziha Labidi, Minister of Women, Family and Childhood, Republic of Tunisia; and Ms. Helga Schmid, Secretary General of the European External Action Service.
