Within the framework of the "Lesotho Enterprise Development" Project Eurecna organised the 1st Strategy Workshop to introduce participants to the concept of strategic planning, present examples of Business Development Support (BDS) strategies in action, and lay the groundwork for Business Associations to develop their own strategies.
The two-day workshop saw the participation of around 25 people from 7 Business Associations and two trainers. Feedback was positive and included comments such as "[The workshop was] Informative, [I] learned a lot and [I am] positive that I will use what I learned to achieve our goals" and "I believe this was beneficial to all BAs as this was the first time that all BAs came together [in Lesotho] for a workshop that is a prelude to their capacitation".
Participants were requested to carry out practical exercises that favoured information-sharing and cooperation, which indicate the ground for possible shared services, and identify common needs in completing and implementing future strategies
The project, begun in November 2018, has the objective “to improve the institutional capacities and effectiveness of business associations in Lesotho by improving partnerships, entrepreneurship, skills development and access to finance and markets”. Eurecna’s work focuses on carrying out (i): Institutional Assessment of Business Associations’ needs, capacity, relevance, delivery and Networking of Stakeholders; (ii): Development of shared services and Business Development Support; (iii): Strengthening Private- Private and Private-Public (PP&PP) Dialogue; and (iv): Project management and coordination.
